Psychological Safety in the workplace

Overview:

A psychologically safe workplace is one where individuals feel confident that their ideas and thoughts will be listened to and are able to speak up freely without fear of retaliation. People who feel that sense of safety are more likely to perform at higher levels and stay with an employer that values them. This training will provide participants with the foundational skills and knowledge to set the stage and create awareness about psychologically safe interactions at work.

Instructional Objectives:

The training program covers the following topics:

  • Defining Psychological Safety
  • Impacts of a Unsafe Workplace
  • Creating a Psychological Safe Environment
  • Psychological Safety and Investigations
  • Micro-Aggressions
  • Micro-Affirmations

Measuring Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the training, participants will understand:

  • The importance of psychological safety at work;
  • Approaches to bring psychological safety into the workplace;
  • How to set the stage for safe and secure workplace investigations and how to promote safe disclosure;
  • What constitutes micro-aggressions and how subtle behaviours can impact the work environment;
  • What constitutes micro-affirmations and how visible signs of support can create positive work relationships

Program Delivery & Assessment Methods:

Pivot HR Services instructors continuously assess participants comprehension and ability to apply learning concepts through a combination of facilitation, interactive discussion, group work, case studies, and relevant real-world examples. Pre & Post learning self-evaluations are delivered to provide participants with a measure of their knowledge and skills gained from training. Following training, participants are encouraged to connect with instructors via phone and e-mail should they need assistance and have questions to follow.
